St Mary’s Mill, Chalford:

St Mary’s Mill will next be open for National Mills Weekend in May 2025. Details will be posted here in due course.

There’s something different to see at each site. During the spring and summer you can visit Dunkirk and Gigg on the same day. At Dunkirk you can experience the huge water wheel turning and driving textile machinery; at Gigg you can see historic looms and try weaving yourself. Click the links for more information and to book tickets. See opposite for opening dates.

Dunkirk Mill Museum

Dunkirk Mill Museum is part of a large mill complex, reached by an attractive walk down the former railway track, past the restored mill pond. At the Museum, the water wheel will run and the guides will demonstrate all the intricate machinery that was used to finish the cloth after it left the loom.
